About Us

Dr. Randy James is serving as the Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Development at Africa Nazarene University, near Nairobi, Kenya. He also serves as a lecturer in the areas of Pastoral Counseling, Church History, and Homiletics. Randy enjoys sports of all kinds, though these days his activities are limited pretty much to walking and jogging. He also plays guitar, writes music, and sings with Mary Jane and in various group settings. His favorite food is a meal of fried potatoes and navy beans. He collect models of motorcycles and loves to ride the real thing. His favorite color is emerald green.

Mary Jane James serves as a lecturer in the Education Department, but she also works with the school music teams, edits curriculum for various departments of the university, works in the Alumni office, and coordinates visitors and work teams to the campus. She is mother to a great host of students and has made her home the “American Embassy” for foreign students.

Mary Jane is a walker and also enjoys music. She plays piano and flute and loves to sing. Her favorite color is purple and she is fond of sentimental movies. She enjoys receiving letters from home and little suprises that have some thought behind them. She is a very creative person in the kitchen and is in her element just being a homebody. A gift suggestion would be some kind of music CD’s or actual contemporary praise music to play on the piano.

Like all missionaries they are naturally concerned for their family back in the USA. They have parents who are aging, siblings who need the Lord’s guidance, and children that are in ministries of their own, but who are continually on their minds.

Pray for protection in this sometimes unstable environment, and for their ministry here to be effective in reaching the next generation of Christian leaders with the tools and experiences that can help change their world with the love of Christ.
